RG570 mysterious finish - need help

Hi Guys.
So I bought the RG570 and now I am kinda stuck trying to figure out the finish.

According to the serial no. it is 2002. In the neck pocket there is stamp G570-03. I guess the R letter was there but smeared already during production. Neck heel has ARG570 stamp.

I was told that this should be some anniversary or special run but the information was too vague. Please check the pics.

I'd appreciate any help.

Re: RG570 mysterious finish - need help

A thread bump as much as anything, but I don’t recognise that colour on a 570 from the early 2000s!

Hopefully someone else will be able to assist!

Are you sure it is a 2002 model? It has an edge trem and it should be a Lo-Pro trem.

Re: RG570 mysterious finish - need help

Serial no. starts with F02. I am assuming that it is 2002. Neck joint is AANJ. Unless somebody put a 2002 neck onto different year body.

Concerning the trem IbanezWiki shows for RG570 1997-2002 Edge. So I guess this is ok.

When I am looking at the top of the body I am pretty sure it has bookmatched flame maple.

But the finish is really something strange to me. It is very, very thin and matt. Like somebody forgot to put the lacquer overcoat. And it doesn't look like it was refinished.

I am really lost here.

Re: RG570 mysterious finish - need help

It looks like printed top, like on early 1990s RG570GF, and the colour match one of them. Maybe body swapped with newer neck? Aactually, doesn't make sense - those bodies didn't have AANJ.

Re: RG570 mysterious finish - need help

I am not able to tell but it could be that the top is printed. Actually could anybody share some info how to recognize the printed top? Maybe it would help me with identification.

Also concerning RG570GF and other similar finishes there is a problem that these are high gloss or simply a glossy finishes in most cases. This finish is not glossy at all. It is dull. This can be seen on "IMG_8042". Although I feel that these photos are not the best. I will try to make better ones in daylight.

Thanks for the tip anyway.

Re: RG570 mysterious finish - need help

OK, after some thorough searching I was able to figure out that Ibanez calls this type of finish "flat". I looked at many pics using Google and I am 99% sure that this finish is from "flat" group of finishes. I didn't know that Ibanez produced this type of finish so I learned something new today, which is always good.

However, problem remains. It seems that RG570 was never produced with this kind of finish. I am still assuming that this is not a fake body.
