RG670?

The base of the neck on my RG570CTAM is stamped RG670. Has anyone ever heard of an RG670? If so, what do you know about it?

Yeah, it's an RG570CTAM with DiMarzio pickups in it, the "6" in the 670 is the number of days I had it in my possession.

Kirk, I think I've had all the guitars you have had in your posession in the last 670 days

That would explain it. *It's fate, see I am supposed to be doing this.

Actually, it's probably the amount of money we've spent on shipping.

I honestly don't know about that stamp. *When you had Scallopini, did it have the same stamp? *I haven't thought about taking it apart to look.

The neck of my 570CTTB says 670 too, I've never taken my 570CTAM apart though.
Perhaps the 670 was a model that Ibanez was going to bring out in 94/95, but scrapped the idea after they printed up all the necks, so they just threw em on the 570's.

RG670?

I have an RG670DX, and I haven't been able to find very much information on either the 670DX or the 670, beyond what I know from my own guitar and the fact that the RG670 was also available with a mahogany body (based on a wiring diagram from the Ibanez website).

Mine has a maple fretboard with colour-matched headstock and sharktooth inlays, a clear scratchplate and direct-mounted Ibanez QM pickups.

That may explain it then. *Mecca, what is the body of your 670 made of? *If it's Alder, then it is a match.

The 570CTAM, fits the description of the body, direct mounted pickups in a H-S-H config.

The only differences would be in the Gravure top, and of course the neck. *The 570CT came with the Pau Ferro fingerboard and pearl (or plastic) dot inlays, and the headstock is black.

But what does the CT stand for?

RG670?

I believe the body of mine is actually basswood, but I'm not really sure. It weighs the same as my RG570FM - anybody know if they were alder or basswood?

As far as the CT goes in the 570CT's name, presumably it refers to the gravure top. Perhaps it's a misprint.

Maybe it's a mistranslation, like the "custom made" inlays on the S 540's.

And about that 670DX, sounds a lot like a 770DX, except for the pickups and mahogany body.

Doink, the serial number is F404093. It looks almost exactly like a 770DX except, as you say, that the pickups aren't colour-matched.

RG670?

I had a RG670DX in purple  (ok violet metallic)

It was my gigging guitar for a while.

This info is from the 94 catalogue; it had a basswood body, an AANJ wizard neck (I have a spare floating around here somewhere) a bound maple board with the purple sharkteeth, a lo pro edge and IBZ QM pickups that were black in colour.

I was never aware that the was a "normal" RG670 (ie without a DX tag) but I know there was an RG620 that did have a mahogany body (with a sapele top)

Moi?!?!? Reliable ?!?!? - Never

We do indeed drive on the wrong side of the road - that much is true, (but hey, you guys elected George W. Bush )

I've not seen a normal (nonDX) RG670 in any catalogue over here. That's not to say it wasn't available in the USA or Japan and we all know how much the product lines differ from continent to continent.
