RG670 PGM?

This is my first post here, so welcome everybody .

Recently I stumbled upon an interesting offer in one of auction sites and got confused.

The seller claims to have an RG670 PGM model for sale.

The problem is that I do not remember Paul Gilbert playing RGs, especially in 1994 - and this is when the guitar was to be built. In addition, the only information I found in internet so far was with respect to regular RG670 - I found no links between this model and PGMs.

On the other hand, the model clearly seems to be a PGM - it has the "efs", no tone control and is made of basswood (body) and maple/rosewood (neck).

Anybody knows anything about this model? Did anything like RG670 PGM actually exist?

I'd appreciate your help. Thanks.

Re: RG670 PGM?

Can't say I've ever seen a dark blue/black PGM with gold hardware....

Also, this one doesn't appear to have "PGM" near the end of the swoosh on the headstock. That's be a dead giveaway that it wasn't a real Gilbert model.

Furthermore, I also can't say that I've ever seen a PGM model with the last four frets scalloped.

It seems like this is being marketed falsely to you. Still, it seems like a pretty looking guitar, so go have a play of fit yourself and see what you think it's worth then offer that

Cheers,
Tim

Re: RG670 PGM?

looks mighty nice. I would call it a PGM'ed RG670, more than anything. Whoever did it did a rather nice job. Check the back of the body to see what kind of route it has. IF it has a PGM route then you ... hmmm..... know it has a PGM route.

Re: RG670 PGM?

Thanks guys.

I've done some additional research at my local (Polish) forums and found out that this guitar apparently had its history already.

App. a year ago the owner was selling it for much higher price, claiming it to be an original and rare PGM.

These claims and price demanded (equal to a new high model of RG prestige) rose some doubts.

The owner ridiculed the doubts and made it clear to the people that they knew nothing about Ibanez guitars, especially such rare as this one.

So somebody asked Paul Gilbert directly, and got a response that he never saw, played or owned the guitar.

Now the guitar is being sold for app. 1/3 of the price.

So its apparenty a cool guitar - but rather not a PGM

@ibz_SA I already own a quite nice looking RG, so I'm not interested . Just curious.

Re: RG670 PGM?

Naah, I accompany it most of the time

P.S. The rg670 or pgm or whatever dissapeared from the auction.
