An RG7 queery

Basically, my friend has an RG7321 (I think that's it, although it has white binding on the neck, a fixed bridge and a 5piece Maple/Bubinga neck - without scarf joint). It's pretty bashed up and has 2 green DiMarzio Blaze pickups.

I was going to buy DiMarzio Blazes anyway for my other 7-string, but i figured if i got his guitar for say £200-250 i could swap the pickups and keep the other guitar for messing around with (Tune to G or something silly).

Blazes cost around £150 (at a guess) so really, i'm buying a guitar for £100odd.

Would you guys think this is a good idea. Should i put the extra £100 towards getting another guitar to mess around with seening as i already want those pickups?

for 100 extra? do it.

even if you only wind up parting it out on the 'bay.

Re: An RG7 queery

I have a RG7321 and think for the money if can't be beat!! It even sounds pretty good with the stock AH7 pickups so I say go for it, plus it might give you a different feel and sound to your other guitar which you might enjoy! with the pickups out of your other & in it you'l probably end up with 2 great sounding axes!!

Re: An RG7 queery

If i did this deal, i'd probably strip the body and put in some EMG 7-HZ pickups i found around (only reason i wouldn't put this in my other 7 is because of the extra routing - which i don't really want to do to my fravorite guitar! ).

That means a real Bad Horsie

Re: An RG7 queery

It'd be a shame to route a guitar for EMG's and then put HZ's in.

EMG707's are great pickups. Why not order some from the U.S. for a LOT less than they'd cost over here.

HZ's

Re: An RG7 queery

i think if u even took all the other bits and sold them seperately (truss cover, knobs, pots, tuners, neck!) u would come out with a lot of extra money!!

Re: An RG7 queery

I want get some new pickups on my RG7321, I know the stock ones sound good, but I need something to bring out the bottom end, and I'm not going to go the EMG way for 7's...
