RG7421

This is the Japanese hard tail seven string, and the 7321 is the newer Korean or Indonesian made RG seven string?

What kind of pickups are in the 7421?

the 7421 is japanese. The current model has a XL neck, and the old model was standard scaling.
the 7321 is the korean model, 5 piece neck and crappy hardware. The neck binding looks cool anyway.
the indonesian (or chinese) 7 is a GR720 or something with a G. good for blocking doors and as fuel for campfires.

Technically, the hardware on the 7321 is identical to that of the 7621 and 7421. The difference is in the pickups.

The 7321 has a much cooler neck than either of the previous hardtail RG7s, being five piece without a scarf. Binding and a Wiz7II profile sweeten the deal. Dang, I want one!!!

No. Check Ibanez' parts list:

Well, I'll have to take your word for it, since Ibanez only has parts listed for their current models, which is the 7421XL and the 7321. The bridge saddles are only a slight bit different, and the Gotohs are the same tuners used on the RGT42. I don't see where this gets translated into "crappy hardware" exactly...

7621 has Blaze pickups too. I was lucky enough to find a 7621, so I don't need to be confused over the 7421 or 7321 anymore.

Kirk,
The 7621 has New7 DiMarzio pickups, made for Ibanez for the RG7-62x guitars.
The statements of them having Blaze pickups were in error (or only applied to the very earliest of the RG7s...)
They're a good little bit hotter than Blaze pickups (and a little 'looser' in the sound, IMHO).
Just so you know...

My bad, DiMarzio should have been enough to set the 7621 apart from the 73/74. They're not the V7/V8's, or the other pickups found in the 73.

Were the DiMarzios in the 7621 labeled as such? Or were they totally blank? What do the New7s look like basically? Reason i ask is that i've been looking at what is supposed to be a 7621 in a local pawn shop, but i honestly can't be 100% sure it ain't a 7421.

Model number should be on the back of the headstock.

Hmmm... thought i looked there and saw nada. Not sure now, tho. There was another thread on this somewhere... seems like someone else mentioned not having a mdl # on back of neck... i'll see if i can find it.

Tnx,

Do does anyone here actually own a 7321? How is it for Korean?

I'm not sure I like the long scale on the 7421XL... Wish i could play both but like i've said around here... no friggin way that's gonna happen.
