RG7421, I think?

Hey guys, been around for a while, but got out of the game for a bit. Got the itch and starting playing again recently.

Completely forgot I lent one of my old 7 strings to a friend for a bit and finally got it back. Not really into the whole 7 string thing anymore (traded my UV777BK for a Les Paul a while back) and I have another friend who wants to buy this from me. I haven't the faintest idea what it's worth. Also, not sure what the difference is between the 7621 and 7421....

It's the fixed bridge model and a weird magenta(ish) color. Looks like it is a MIJ as well. I've been playing it a lot recently and really like how it plays, but the low B is just getting in my way. So I will probably sell this and get a premium RG instead (not sure which yet. I really like the RG1XXV, but if anyone has an cheaper suggestions I am game!)

with that color and being from Japan, it's definitely either the 7421 or the 7621.

Some pics and a serial # will help figure it out.

Also, what country are you in....it often makes a difference.

Re: RG7421, I think?

I'm in the US. Color looks like it is Cherry Fudge, which seems to only have come on the 7421. Currently at work, so no way to get any pictures or serial #, but when I get home I will try.

It's actually a really good sounding guitar, just 7 strings aren't for me anymore I guess.

Cherry Fudge was on at least a few others, like my AX7521.

Re: RG7421, I think?

They're close. In fact, both the 7421 and 7621 necks are stamped 7621 even! The easiest way to tell is the pickup routes and the bridge. The 7621 comes with DiMarzios and should have rounded triangle routes where the pickup mount screws are while the 7421 has more half-oval shaped routes where the mounting screws are. The bridge is different as well. The 7621 has the standard gotoh style bridge while the 7421 has a cheaper bridge with oval shaped openings where the strings come through. I have a 7421 which I bought a 7621 bridge for and can take a pick of both bridges if you want.

Re: RG7421, I think?

I'll be home way too late to feel like digging my parts bin out in order to take a pic tonight. However, I did a quick search and found a thread on the ibanez forum with two pictures in that clearly show the pickup routes and different bridges between the RG7621 and RG7421.

The picture embedded in the post is the RG7421 and the one in the link is the RG7621 (they're labeled as well).
