RG7620

Might be picking one up in a few days. Seller is asking $450. The body has the usual paint chips/dings, etc...
It has a Crunch Lab and LiquiFire pickups & the rest of the guitar looks good. Is this a decent deal?

Re: RG7620

So far, so good. Sold a guitar today and the seller of the 7620 has agreed to a price of $450 shipped. Paypal him tomorrow and start watching for the UPS guy :-)

Re: RG7620

Thanks! I'm really looking forward to spending some serious (and not-so-serious) time with this guitar. I haven't played a 7 string since I sold my UV7 almost 10 years ago. From what I've been told, the 7620 is basically a UV without all the bling. If this thing plays anything like my UV I know I'll love it.

Re: RG7620

Yep, it's pretty much a UV without the bling. I have a 99 7string neck on a body that Nate Pearle made me plus a bone stock 99 7620. Something about those old 7620 necks. They feel great compared to the 7320 they have now.

Re: RG7620

Alright, the guitar is on its way. UPS tracking says I should have it by Thursday. Really looking forward to it!

I was looking at the pictures of it earlier today and I started to wonder...is there a way to "touch up" the paint nicks so they're not quite as noticeable? I'm okay with them (my RG3120 actually looks a lot worse) but I'm just curious if and how (without refinishing it) it could/should be done should I want to do it? Pictures:

Re: RG7620

Nail polish is a common suggestion, usually accompanied by suggesting that you bring your guitar into the store and ask the girl at the counter to help color-match your guitar, and hope she digs guitarists.

Personally, I'd just deal with it. 7620s have a finish that falls between fine china and a champagne glass in terms of durability, and past a certain point some abuse adds charm.

Re: RG7620

Yeah, I'm not too worried about it. As I said, my 3120 is much worse

I might try the fingernail polish on the backside & see how it looks. If it doesn't look good I'll just leave it as is.

Re: RG7620

You could take it to your local auto paint store...ie..O'reilly's or Napa and have them color match the paint and touch it up that way.

Re: RG7620

The guitar made it safe & sound from Virginia to my house, via UPS, in California yesterday. I'll post up a few pictures a bit later, but for now a quick review: plays like buttah, although the action is too low. There is fret buzz while playing open strings and some notes almost fret out while bending. Assuming the bridge is (still) the correct height, could the neck have straightened out a little too much? Seller shipped it with string tension very loose and it was 6 days in transit. Also, seller has it strung with .010's with a heavy bottom and had tuned to drop A and blocked the trem. I plan to install .009's, unblock the trem and tune to standard tuning. That's gonna take a while, I'm sure LOL. Seller also has installed a CrunchLab and LiquiFire pickups...and they sound great! He also changed out the 5 way pickup switch for a 3 way, and removed the tone pot/knob and installed a coil tap switch in its place. Not sure why, but I like it enough to keep it as is for now. Might restore it to original configuration eventually. Anyway, I can tell by playing it for a little while last night that I'm going to love it. I had a UV7 years ago & I always liked the way that guitar played so I know this will be no different. I'll post pics as soon as my wife gets home with the camera.
