RG7620 serial number - how to identify???

Anyone knows how to identify a RG7620 with a serial number???

I just found a good deal on a new RG7620 and will have to buy it without seeing it first. I want to make sure they don't sell me a 7420 instead...

Hope to hear from some of you.

Can't really tell by the serial # that I know of. If you can, cool, and I'm just not as knowledgable as I though. The only ways I know of is the bridge (Lo-Pro-7 vs TRS-7) and pickups (both coils adjustable pole-pieces vs one coil adjustable, one coil non-adjustable).

I'm not positive since I don't deal in 7420's but I believe they're made in Korea which means the serial # will start with a C. 7620 serial # starts with an F.

the summary on jemsite.com says the 7420 was made in japan. the only sure way to find out is to check the serial number for the year it was made, if its 97 through 99 its probably a 7620. in 2000 i think both were in production, so its kind of uncertain there. anything after 2000 is probably a 7420.
to tell the year by the serial number, its usualy for example on a 98 guitar: F98 XXXXX

hope this helps.

Just got the serial number of the guitar i'm buying...

F9923967

According to the jem site infos, this guitar was built in Japan and made in 99... So, i bet i'm not getting an RG7420 as the production of those guitars started in 2000 (still refering to the jem site RG infos)...

Thanks to those who tried to help me out.

You're probably right. But when you get the guitar you can pull the neck off and check the stamps on both the body (inside the neck pocket) and on the heel of the neck itself. Both stamps should say RG7-620. Just did this last night to one I just bought. The trem is the acid test though, TRS equals 7420, Lo pro edge equals 7620.
