RG7621 restoring/refinishing progress

I picked up this beat up RG7621 on e(b)a(y) for $200. It's beat up pretty bad from the pick you see, but I'm almost finished prepping it for painting. Fill in the dents and holes, then used a red filler primer, then gray primer. I'm paint it an 'ice blue' color. I'm putting the pics up on this link for showing progress.

A very worth cause - give the beast some dignity back!

Looks like it had been in a bad lawn mower accident!

Re: RG7621 restoring/refinishing progress

It was in pretty bad shape.

Yeah - it did say BALLS, LOL...some gloss black spray paint took care of that.

Re: RG7621 restoring/refinishing progress

Yes, removing the electronics is definitely a safer step, but given the layout of the electronics and pickups I've had sucess with taping off the electronic cavities to where it isn't affected.

Hope I don't have problems this time.

Re: RG7621 restoring/refinishing progress

I just updated the pics, the body is refinished....not my greatest job but much better than the original. Waiting on the IBANEZ decal to come in to finish the neck and get things back together.

Amazing job! Looks great in comparison to what it was, and otherwise as well!

Re: RG7621 restoring/refinishing progress

You did a good job man. I'm looking to buy a 7621 aswell... with a few nicks and dings in it. After seeing what you were able to do with the previous disaster, I will definately go ahead and buy one in ok condition rather than perfect.

Re: RG7621 restoring/refinishing progress

Yikes, she'd been brutalized. If it wasn't a black guitar, though, I'd actually kinda have liked that look.

I love the new color, though. You can tell on some of the edges that she'd seen some damage, but I really like the looks of that one now - great work!

Wow, that guitar has been through hell. It looks great now though! I like the Ice blue, very nice! ;-)
