RG770 Flame? - Is this for real?

Hey all--

I found this really nice-looking 770 on.........Well, let's just say it's on an auction-type site. *Anyway, the dude claims it's not a photo-flame job, and the front and back are both flamed out. *The only guitar I've seen like this is a Hamer I own. *He also says that it's really heavy. *That would stand to reason if it's a full flame-maple body. *I couldn't find anything in the archives referring to this, so any help is appreciated.

Also.....Anyone know a fair going price for a 540P or an RG565? *Been lookin' for one of either for a while, and just don't know what I'm willing to give for one.

Thanks,

RG770 Flame?

Well I know that the old RG770FMs (rather than the new ones that are available in Japan and are starting to appear in the UK) that I've seen have all been fairly heavy guitars, but I presume that the body is still going to be Basswood with a laminate of ample front and rear.

The tummy cuts on the ones I've seen have been darkened to such an extent as to obscure the flame in that area suggesting to me that the rear laminate just goes over the surface of the guitar.

Maybe someone else can add more info

Either way I think they're great guitars

RG770 Flame?

Hey, Jono--

Thanks for the reply. *It was very dark tobacco-burst around the edges, and when I inquired about the cavities the guy said it was really dark in there, too. *An extremely attractive guitar. *It sold for $525, and I suppose it's worth it. *I prolly shoulda went for it, but I'm really lookin' for a 565 or 540P. *I had a really great 770DX. *Not the only Ibanez I wish I had back. *Also had a really nice 560 with a maple board in "grape ice." *Haven't seen another one in years.

Thanks again,
