RG770 refinish

well i got my RG770 ready for paint, and i don't know what to do. the headstock is still the original purpleish color, so i dont know if should repaint it that color or go completely custom. if in the futur i decide to sell it will it hurt the value if its not all original?

Re: RG770 refinish

Is it a straight RG770, not a DX?

Re: RG770 refinish

OK, yours is a stock RG770. Here's the 770DX:

I guess it depends what you want and your preference in terms of colour. Me, I'd do it Desert Yellow or Road Flare Red, probably! Matching headstock, new logo. If you get a new logo, make sure it's correctly applied. Badly / ill-positioned ones can make it look like a Chibanez. If the paintwork is done well, I don't think it will affect the value much. Who knows, maybe it'll increase the value? The 770 isn't a seriously collectible guitar, really. Who's doing the paint?

Re: RG770 refinish

my dad is a auto body man , and can lay down a mean paint job. i just dont know what color and im alittle worried about the binding around the headstock getting messed up sanding or stripping the paint.

Re: RG770 refinish

Ahh, very nice.

Good point about the binding. I guess it'll have to be masked off? Maybe Patrick is around and can answer this question. You could always shoot him a PM and ask for advice.
