RG770 USA Made?

Recently got my hands on a pretty nice Ibanez RG770 USA made model....well that's what it was advertised as! I am just looking to validate its origin. I'm going to try and get 10 posts real quick so i can post photos...otherwise there is a link in "The Ibanez Forum" website under RG called "RG770 USA?" .......

"up for grabs is a Made in USA, Bensalem, pa, 1990 Ibanez Rg770. I recieved this in a trade, not really sure what it was, after much research through Ibanez, figured out its history. These were high end models, much like a prestige or j craft. It has the original edge tremolo, and all cosmo black hardware. It has the hsh pickup configuration with IBZUSA f4 at the neck, c2 middle, and fs. Has wizard maple neck with nice figuring, rosewood fingerboard with sharkfin inlays. Neck is marked "WALRJ-T24" and has the square heel. Neck has nice binding as well. Black finish is in 9.5 of 10 condition. Headstock logo has been professionally removed, and looks awesome mirror shine No scratchy pots, no neck joint shift, no significant fretwear. This is not a Made in Japan RG770, nor is it an rg770 re-issue, and finally no this model of rg770 didnt come with a pickguard"

I posted the same question in another forum to try and sine some light but no dice as of yet. There are pictures in the other post. As soon as i figure out how to post them here i will gladly do the same!

Re: RG770 USA Made?

Just like those 770's but in black. What are these worth roughly? I've heard DiMarzio made the pups for Ibanez for these...any truth to that? I've always had an ESP so this being my first Ibanez im eager to know everything about it!

Re: RG770 USA Made?

Ok,

I'm not aware of any USA made 770s.

770's don't have pickguards, only the 770dx which has a clear pickguard.

If the pickups had anything to do with DiMarzio they usually DiMarzio/IBZ or IBZ/USA on them.

The Bensalem location cranked out USA "assembled" guitars, including the 770s--hence the Bensalem, PA neckplate.

Re: RG770 USA Made?

Parts built in Japan. Assembled and finished in Bensalem PA before '91, and North Hollywood after '91.

Explains the "North Hollywood, CA." neckplate. Whats the value of one of these things?

Depends on condition and demand. One in decent condition should fetch somewhere in the neighborhood of $500-700

Re: RG770 USA Made?

I wonder if we'll see this again. $1 = 80 yen kind of sucks for Ibanez! And I think it WILL get as low as 80 again!
Sorry to be an economic kill-joy, but I think the idea of a US RG is a good idea, if only to replace, say, production models that were once made in the Cort factory in Korea or something like that...

Re: RG770 USA Made?

It's still more expensive to make stuff in America than in Korea

My mistake, I missed the part where you talked about moving from the Japanese Cort factory to America.

The F2 is based on a D'imarzio 'tone zone',but with slightly reduced bass and higher gain.
My favorite pick up of all time.

The D'imarzio F4 is based on a 'Paf Pro' with slightly higher output.
The C2 is a noiseless stacked single with some output and some mids, based on the HS-2.
