RG770DX reissue

I just picked one of these up. I used it live the other night opening for Stephen Pearcy and Britny Fox. I've got to say it played absolutely great! So glad they reissued this model...even thinking of picking up a red one as well. I'm sure I speak for a lot of people by saying that I also hope they reissue to 540PII and the RG565. Although this 770 is limited production, it plays to good not to use it and I'm sure it will be in the live performance line up for a long time. I needed to set up the action to my liking and the fret ends could've been filed down a bit better but it is a phenomenal instrument in all regards.

Re: RG770DX reissue

Anyone who buys a guitar to hide it away should have it taken away :P . Go by the Rick Nielsen thinking...it's just wire and wood so play the damn things!

Re: RG770DX reissue

I got one too, & love it. I too had to set it up, but then I have never bought an Ibanez that was correctly set up from the factory. It seems to play better the more I play it too. PLugged or unplugged I get awesome harmonics anywhere. I love the matching inlays too. Yeah it's good you play it, because limited run doesn't necessarily mean it will be collectible. That just means get one before they're all gone.

Re: RG770DX reissue

I have an original 770 in blue that's near mint condition. It's been my main player for 17 years now. Treat her right and she'll kick ass for you for many years to come.

Re: RG770DX reissue

The DX's get more money. A really nice red one went last June for $975. Average price is $500-$600. Blues are about the same. Worn out ones run around $400, maybe a little less if it's really ragged. With the reissue DX's out, I doubt someone's going to pay anything close to $975 for an original when a new one (and they're still available) is just a hair more. But you never know.

Regular RG770's run maybe $400-$600 depending on condition.

Re: RG770DX reissue

I played one for the first time last night and I was VERY impressed. Like everyone says, the frets could use the Prestige treatment to make them a little rounder, but if you play like a classicaly trained guitarist (thumb on back, perfect form), this won't bother you in the slightest. Either way, it has me pumped for the new maple boarded Prestiges. I highly recomment this guitar to anyone wondering about it.

Re: RG770DX reissue

My buddy just recently GAVE me his 1990 RG 770FM because he's a bluesman now and has moved on to teles. It is in good used condition and I was wondering what it might be worth? Are the flame tops more rare and was it a more expensive option?

I won't be selling it however because it rules!

Re: RG770DX reissue

I am looking to get one of these rg770DX re-issues or maybe a new rg3570 but I thought they had they same necks. Do any of you know if the necks are different, they both say they are prestige models on the Ibanez web site. But I am reading here that the fret work is not as good?

I'd really like to get one of these two guitars but with the difference in bridges, necks, and pick-ups it's a tuff choice. Are the Tone-Zone Air Norton that much better than the F2 F4? Any helpful thoughts or advice before this big purchase would be great.

Has anyone played both the 770 and the new 3570?

Re: RG770DX reissue

That's cool! Cool live shot! The new and old 770's are great! The edge is #1! I think the 770DX with pickups added, is just a good as any basswood Jem!

I prefer the F2 and F4 combo to the Tone Zone Air Norton pairing, but I don't know anyone else who's with me on that. I've not tried the new 3570 though so can't comment on the necks on those, sorry.
