Thumbs up Re: RG8470Z

Loving the 8470, but red flame is a pain to photograph isn't it ?

Re: RG8470Z

true dat.
I was in love with the prominence color (kind of orange flame maple) they had in 2006.
But ran out of luck...

Re: RG8470Z

Bought 2 recently and now have changed over from PRS. The frets are savage on the J Customs......the vine inlays are even better than the Vai Jem.

Nice one.

Re: RG8470Z

Did you get rid of the PRS? which PRS did you have and how do you compare them Vs the J customs?

Re: RG8470Z

I have had most PRS models by this stage. Sold some recently. Most PRS have very fat necks, really the opposite to Ibanez. The PRS Custom 24 with thin neck would be the closest to the Ibanez. Build quality is superb alright with PRS, the HFS pickups in the PRS are not the best for me and most people, they are very throaty. Really a set of Seymours would be the best choice. But PRS only use the best of the best with materials. You can lower the action as low as you want on a PRS. Amazing quality.

Definately better than the Jems, but the J Customs take a lot of beating. A carved maple top would be the only thing i would like to see on them, and back to the Edge Pro please.
I guarantee that the Jems that Ibanez build for Vai himself would be of J Custom standard, not the stock Jems available to buy.

This seems to be the hottest issue at this point
. everyone wants to go back to the EP bridge. Hopefully someone is listening and taking people in the forums seriously on this. I bet there's alot of guys laughing with the latter statement...

Re: RG8470Z

Why the f**k did they change the bridge. If it is not broken....DO NOT FIX IT.

Too late for us.....we can't swap back to the Edge Pro because it won't fit into the cavaity from the Zero. Listen to us Ibanez..........

Re: RG8470Z

The RG8420Z i am using live will still have that locking bar thing on it. It does seem sturdy alright as i couldn't be bothered bringing a spare sometimes to shows....lazy me.

The Zero doesn't give a lot of confidence either.....

And maybe when you've been around a little longer you'll know that Vai's JEM have stock Fujigen production JEM necks on them.

Re: RG8470Z

Beautiful guitar! I have the same one.....just with the 2 seymour HB version as well as a black one with your pickup config. That trem system isn't all that bad. I've played much worse. It has it's quirks but it really hasn't failed me yet in any of my weekly gigs.

Good to hear, I got mine last week, cant put her down. Feels great so far. I actually plugged in my 750 a coulpe of hours ago. It feels different, like really different. I never expected so much of a difference. With the 8470 the tone just smokes, and there is sooo much power with ToneZone and AirNorton. I'm thinking of getting new pickups for the 750, maybe Evos... or maybe I should get ToneZone ang AirNorton for this one as well. Dont know, have to research it a bit...
If you get a chance post a pic of the black one.

Those are both great guitars. You can't go wrong with either!
