Re: RG8527 GAS..............

and finally with its brother, the baritone (Mr Rg2077xl )

Heard this is a rare one indeed. No idea how many exist but this is the only one ive seen in the UK.

Loving the dual dimarzio air norton (neck) and tone zone) bridge) combo and the chunkier feel of the neck nearer the nut is great. Reminds me of my les pauls (which i love).

Anyways i feel you ain't played ibanez until you have played a J custom as they do indeed wipe the floor with most axes IMO.

You mean V8-7 and V7-7? Or did you change the pickups?

Re: RG8527 GAS..............

Lmao i was sure they were a tone zone and an air norton but come to think of it i have those in my rg550 and these look nothing like them polepiece wise.

I was sure i read somewhere these shipped with those so when i got it i checked. I looked under the pups and as soon as i read dimarzio i stuck them back in and went away to play it.

They sound good though so thats cool.

Edit - I dropped the retainer bar when putting it back on and didn't notice it was wrong way around! Thats 2 things i missed that you guys ahve cleared up almost right away.

Double edit - Specs page right here ------>CLICK

Says DiMarzio RG-7N and DiMarzio RG-7B for neck and bridge pups. Need to go find out about these things

Re: RG8527 GAS..............

Beautiful, very very beautiful

I mis-read your opening line as "shagged this beast off the bay......"

Re: RG8527 GAS..............

Congrats on snagging it off **** - RG8527s rock :-)

Re: the pickups - if I remember my specs right those "New 7" or "Custom 7" humbuckers are exactly the same as what's in your baritone, just minus a middle pickup. So other than the effects of different scale necks, the main difference in tone will be the difference between your basswood body in the XL and the mahogany in the RG8527. My basswood 7 doesn't have half the bottom end that my mahogany 7s have.

A lot of people knock the New 7 pickups but I personally much prefer the bridge to the muddy Tone Zone, and the neck and split positions have some great tones in there too. I guess it's all down to each individual's ears...

Re: RG8527 GAS..............

No these aren't the same as in the baritone. I've checked the baritone and it doesn't have marked as "dimarzio" pickups. This one does so i'm going to check the codes tomorrow when i work on the guitar and im going to check the baritone ones.

There is a big difference between the baritone pups and this one. For one the baritone pups are weaker and don't seem to cut through as much as this or the uv i have. So much so i was goign to upgrade them to proper high end dimarzio's but i saw this rg8527 instead.
