Early J-customs had 6100. Rich will know for sure whats on the 8670, but its not 6100.

6105 just like the Jems. They're classified as Jumbo, but they're really just tall & skinny frets.

They don't wear out. After years of lots off wide bends/vibrato, no wear, where other guitars have fretwear.

Maybe it is stainless? I don't know.

Someone actually know what it is?

I have no idea what specific fret number/maker they are, but they are big and definitely not 6105. 6105's are mediums at best. And I seriously doubt they're stainless as they cut and file the same as any other frets.

Any J-Custom ive had from new has worn in much the same way as any other Ibanez ive had. I havent noticed any difference in durability at all.

Yeah, some people will say they are stainless but I've never heard that they were from a reliable source like Rich.

Other reasons it's doubtful:

1) Ibanez never mentions they are stainless.
2) If they cut and file the same as any other frets (as Rich mentioned) they *very* likely aren't because stainless supposedly would wear out the tools very quickly.

Would be cool if they were stainless steel .

Re: RG8670 What frets are they?

In an English mag, it said they were stainless, but seeing as I've never filed mine, I cannot say - They do seem more hard-wearing than other guitars I've had, but maybe the fretwire in the other guitars was just turd. They are quite tall and skinny though.

Re: RG8670 What frets are they?

I haven't noticed a difference in wear on my 8270 that much, but I've only had it a few months, but bending definitely feels smoother than any other guitar I've played.
