RG870Z or S770FM?

Hello guys, i will be buying a new guitar soon and i would like to ask which is better in terms of specifications. Is one better than the other? and why? I am thinking of getting the RG870Z but it does not have an intonation tool. I can get the RG870Z at $950 singapore dollars and it comes with a semi hard case and the S770FM at $840 singapore dollars but it does not come with a case. Can anyone advice me on which to choose?

You should get the RG870z. It is built to better specifications, has better pickups, and a great bridge. If overall quality is your number one concern, you should look for a used RG550/570/560. But no doubt the RG870z is better of the two.

Thanks man! Should I be concerned about the fact that there is no intonation tool for the edge zero II? How would I adjust the intonation then? The website just said to unlock a few things and adjust it but I am not sure how.

Re: RG870Z or S770FM?

The intonation is normally adjustable as on any other floating tremolo system. You have to check in which direction you have to put the saddle. If the note on the 12th. fret is higher than the harmonic on the 12th. fret you have to put the saddle farther away. The other way around is the other way around. You have to unscrew the saddle lock screw and put the saddle in the right direction. Work in small steps and retune inbetween. When is set you should retune completely and you are ready to go. The only advantage of the intonation tool is that you don't have to detune the string before you move the saddle. Have fun with your new guitar, no matter which you choose.

So does that mean I will have to move the saddle by hand? Not by turning any screws or anything?

The new sabers suck. The only decent one I've played ina while was the newer sa120s actually.

Ok guys, i have took your advice and got the RG870Z. However, whenever i do a dive bomb or a pull up on the whammy bar, the tremolo does not return to the same tuning. It becomes sharp whenever i dive, and it becomes flat whenever i pull up. What should i do?

Re: RG870Z or S770FM?

Look up the manual for the Edge Zero 2

http://www.ibanez.co.jp/eu/download/manual/eg2010.html

If the problem continoues, you should remove the stop bar and set the tremolo like a normal floating trem, parallel to the body. If you still have problems after that you should use some chapstick on the knife edges/studs.
