RGA-8

I absolutely love the headstock! From the pricetag I suppose it's either Korean or Indonesian. Does anybody know for sure?

PS: Lo-Pro is back on the 7-strings!
PS 2: Where is the new floral JEM? Didn'r see it in the new catalog.

Re: RGA-8

Don't know what's exactly going on here, but the RGA8 is definitely not Prestige, there is no Korean production of Ibanez models anymore, so best guess is it's Indonesian. The new 'pattern JEM' might be revealed at Winter NAMM as a more exclusive (non-standard catalog) model or even later this year.

Re: RGA-8

Yeah I found out that all non-prestige RGAs are indonesian. I was about to post a reply to my thread (sounds silly, doesn't it ), but you got it first!

Sorry Brosa for the greek, but we got carried away as there were no replies by english speaking fellow jemsiters. G.milko was polite enough to translate.

Back to the subject. Are there any quality issues with the indonesian RGAs? If it's the pickups, I really don't care, they can be swapped anytime. The same goes for the frets. I can have them leveled. The price seems right and the looks of the RG-2228 don't justify the price (1600euro) in my head.

Re: RGA-8

If you like the basic specifications (body wood used, neck profile, etc.) there are no real quality issues IMO. Some guitars might be a little bit 'rough around the edges', but nothing that can't be fixed. They're usually (less than) half as expensive, but not half as bad as Japanese/US builts.

Re: RGA-8

aris don't horry to buy it! rg-2228 it's basswood....maybe rga8 (probably) is mahogany!

for me prestige isn't to cool anymore....every piece is basswood + bolt on.....foocked up sound

but if you like the metalish sound-> go ahead!

Re: RGA-8

The thing is I hate the Ibanez dealer in Athens. He's an a$$ (he had a JEM BSB hanging on the wall till last year. When I asked how much, he told me first that he kept the price as low as it was when he brought it in. Then he said it was 2400 euro. For a guitar that used to cost new 1600euro the year it was released. I even found the magazine that had a review and doublechecked the price). I hope that someone else will have it and maybe I'll give it a try.
I suppose I'll like it. It's Wizard-8 and I love the wizard-7 of my 1527. As Jeremy Clarkson says: "how hard can it be?"
