RGR Identification Help (I know, another one)

Hey all. I've been looking to purchase a good condition RG550 for several months now, and came across this on a music store's online used inventory (several states away, or I'd check it in person). I called the store, they claim it's a standard 550 with an EMG single coil, but I don't believe this is a 550 model variation at all. I'm waiting on a call back from them, supposedly they have an Ibanez guy that can check it out sometime this week to let me know the correct model. They're asking $475 and have a solid return policy, but I'd like to get a positive ID before laying down the cash and time.

Anyway, here's the picture. It looks like an RGR470 to me, but I don't know enough to make a good call. I don't have 10 posts yet, so you'll have to put the link together (sorry mods).

If anyone can shed some light on this, it would be very much appreciated.
Thanks

Yeah, the spaces need to be removed, I know it's a pain in the butt. I PMed you the correct link to the picture, perhaps you could post the image in this thread for me?

Got it........... definitely an RGR470 JBB (jewel blue burst) prolly '98 or '99.

Has a resoncast body, but it also has a super wizard neck and an original edge bridge.

cool guitar, I'd own it for the right price.

That looks like an Edge bridge. I don't know the RGR models well. Maybe an RG570 with a neck swap?

Just read some more. Apparently Japanese market-only model. Neat.

Thank ya sir! I can get it at $450, but having no idea how a resoncast body sounds/wears, I'll probably keep looking for a 550. Shame, because it's a beautiful guitar at a (seemingly) good price.

It's not a Rg470 in fact it's an RGR480 japan model only.

If it got a resoncast body and sharkies then it's probably a RGR480. They were made in -98 only. But they got IBZ pickups.

Sorry man, but the RGR480 had direct mount pups.............

This is absolutely, positively an RGR470.

@GDT- I've actually heard a LOT of good about resoncast bodies. because they're manufactured wood, they're designed to exacting specs that, well, resonate better and more consistently than natural grown wood that has different density levels even in the same board.

$450 seems a LITTLE high, but if it's in that good of condition I'd go for it.........with a little haggling along the way.

Re: RGR Identification Help (I know, another one)

It is interesting, but not something I would persue at that price. Resoncast = mdf. Unless you truly think a guitarbody made out of cheap kitchen cabinet material would really sound great. If it was a couple hundred then the good parts of the guitar would be worth a try and if you liked it fine, if you didnt you could get a real wood body to put the rest into. Just my opinion anyway.

I was thinking of the JBB RGR580. My bad. It's a RGR470 as RTG stated.
