Roadstar vs Roadstar II

Are the necks the same on the old Roadstar and Roadstar II guitars? I've only played Roadstar II's and might have an opportunity to pick up a slightly older Roadstar, like '84... Just don't know if the necks are the same profile, etc...

Thanks for any info!

Re: Roadstar vs Roadstar II

This is not a helpful answer because I don't know. But I think there are no Roadstars just Roadsters and then Roadstar 2s. I have two Roadstar 2s. And 83 with a strat bridge and three singles and an 84 hardtail also three singles and they are great.

Nice!! You should probably sell me that hardtail... They are so hard to find! I love the necks, but it seems like every one you see for sale has a Pro-Rocker or Power-Rocker tremolo. My main player guitar is a hardtail strat body with a Roadstar II neck.

Beautiful guitars... thanks for the pics.

It is hard to find either of the two bridges I have. I had to really look. I was warned on some forum against the power rockers, but I wasn't looking for any floating trem

I had one with the Power Rocker and hated it... that's why it has a strat body now.

Your comment about the "Roadster" name made me do some looking around. I have seen lots of Roadstars and Roadstar II's, but never a Roadster. Turns out they did have a model called a Roadster from '79 to '81. The solid bridges had offset adjusters like your hardtail, except the base was a big cast piece... the neck had no stripe down the back and the truss rod adjustment was by the pickguard. It was a 79 RS300 I saw a picture of on an auction site, you know the one. Hmm... learn something new every day!

I thought I read somewhere there was never a roadstar 1 just roadster but I could be wrong. I don't feel like going through the ibanez catalogs online to check

Re: Roadstar vs Roadstar II

FYI as we all know roadster vs roadstar was designated due to a print brochure typo so these are interchangeable (year to year changes aside these are one in the same not an RG vs S)
FireEagle and OCDemon like this.
