Routing an RGA121 for a ZR trem

Is this possible? How difficult/costly do you think it would be? I love everything about the 121's except for the fixed bridge. If I could get a ZR trem on an RGA121 I would be a happy man.

I know I'd need to pay for the ZR trem, the routing, and the locking nut.... but I'm not sure just how pricey it would be...

Re: Routing an RGA121 for a ZR trem

USD500+ is my wild guess... and I havent really seen ZR trems for sale separately so getting one would be also a pain in the ass.

It really wouldn't be worth the hassle and money JMO

edit: Found out that the ZR trem unit (2ZRT1RNK2 GUITAR TREMOLO) is $420 alone... And I bet a professionally done routing won't be cheap either...

Oh well, still waste of money and effort JMO. But it might be hella nice after!

I got the 420USD price directly from Ibanez so I expected it would be a bit steep

Re: Routing an RGA121 for a ZR trem

Best option if you really want it, buy a used S470 with the ZR installed. Remove the assembly and make templates for the routing and stud placement(which is NOT the same as the Edge bridge) and go to town. After you finish, sell off the left over parts. I do agree that the ZR is a great bridge and I would love to have one on an RG but just never got the gusto to do it myself(yet).

It would be easier to just have someone build you an RG guitar that is already routed for the ZR and use the neck off of your RGA. Is the RGA a neck through? You can find ZR's on **** for around $270 and they come up pretty regular, especially from one particular seller.
