S Prestige and Sustainiac?

Hey guys,

I was just wondering if I can install a sustainiac single-coil driver in the middle position of my S prestige(it's H-S-H). Has anyone had any experience with this at all? I heard it wasn't recommended, but it doesn't mean it doesn't work, any advice would be awesome, thanks guys.

Re: S Prestige and Sustainiac?

I thought that putting the Sustainiac in the middle pickup gives off a lot of feedback and doesn't sustain the notes properly because it is to close to the bridge pickup.

From their website
The space between the bridge pickup and Sustainiac driver is quite small. This creates magnetic crosstalk between driver and bridge pickup, resulting in uncontrolled oscillation. This means that you have to turn the sustainer gain down to stop the resulting oscillation. Sustainer performance suffers so much that you might as well not even have a sustainer.

Probably just be better to get the humbucker version and put it in the neck spot if you really want one.

Re: S Prestige and Sustainiac?

Sustainor has to be in the neck position to line up properly with the harmonic node points.
