Is S470 Japanese?

I am a little confused because I want a guitar with the ZR bridge but I dont really want to buy a korean guitar, cause it's either an s470 or a new PODxt

Korea has come a long way in the last few years, you shouldn't let it bother you. As far as I know, all the S-Series are Korean. Seriously, don't worry about it. I myself am about to purchase a handcrafted Korean instrument, a Peavey V-Type -- it has a quality of build that can rival pretty much anything, USA, Japan, whatever.

Re: Is S470 Japanese?

Hmm... all i am really concerned about is that the trem has good tuning stability (which is what I hear about the ZR) and that it will play as well as say, a RG550. I really dont want to spend $500 on a guitar that will have fret buzz

Re: Is S470 Japanese?

I don't like the S470 that much. But it's only fair to mention that I tried it in a music store that didn't have it very well setup. I have a friend that bought the S470, but eventually sold it and got a used S540 for around the same price. The S540 also comes with better PUs and a better trem (lo-pro, subjective I guess, but I like it better than the ZR). Needless to say, my friend was very happy that he switched to the S540.

I'd vote for a 540 as well, but there's that whole "new vs. used" thing.

Re: Is S470 Japanese?

GO WITH THE JAPS!!! lol, seriously, Japan is the future of fine guitars, like that dude said, find you a nice 540 instead of the 470, I think the ZR bridge is a lil better because it is smooter and does not wear as easily, so, save your money and buy one of the Prestige S models with the ZR bridge, I think you would be alot happier with one of those. Good luck man.

Unhappy Re: Is S470 Japanese?

If you want an MIJ Prestige S, it will have to be used. They are all MIK now.

Re: Is S470 Japanese?

The ZR trems look cool at least! I was at a music store the other day and saw a Prestige S, and it was Korean, but I have to say I would have never known without looking at the back of the headstock.
