s470 repacement pickups

I want to replace the bridge pickup (maybe all of them)to get that searing crunch for hard rock and metal riffing and leads. I was looking at the emg 81 active. Has anyone installed these? Is there room for this pickup on this guitar?
And are ther better choices out there? I am considereing removing the middle singlr coil,as It is a nuisance.
Any Ideas?

Re: s470 repacement pickups

I have an S470 as my backup live guitar and I use the EMG 81 and 85 set. I kept the passive middle pickup in for looks but it is not hooked up. They fit the stock slots.

Re: s470 repacement pickups

I would not mix active and passive pickups. I suggest either an Evolution or Breed in the bridge as both are great for hard rock and metal(both are DiMarzio and you should buy the F-spaced version). Now if you are going to remove the middle then a pair of active EMG's may be fine but I am just not an EMG user anymore.
