Question s7420 or an old rg7420exc

hey guys im planning to buy a 7 string i've been wanting one but im on a low budget... wat Iv been wanting is an rg1527 but I could not afford. my friend is selling his 2000 (I guess) rg4720 japan used but in good condition selling only for $375 but I dont like the looks of the low-trs so planning on upgrading it to an edge pro 7 another addition of $300+ (if ever il buy the guitar).
on the other hand I kinda like also the s7420 zr trem for $699 but it's indonesian but will order it oversees.
does someone here owns a s7420? how is the quality and playabilty compared to the rg4720 japan or a 7string japan?
cosmetics will not be an issue.
I could not decide which one to buy both are good but I'd rather go to quality first so please help me out and give your inputs to both of the guitars thanks!

7420 and all other cheap 7 strings are "what you pay is what you get"... i would recommend to look around for 7620 or so. Also picking up parts and creating something custom could be a cheaper if you have enough patience. peace!!!

Re: s7420 or an old rg7420exc

1. Pickups simply suck compared to ones in 7620
2. Lo-Trs is hard to get along with, needs routing to be replaced
3. Horrible factory setup - needs frets leveling, grounding and neck adjustments (i guess that goes for almost all except j, usa etc customs)

Probably something else, i had it for few weeks years ago... replacing stuff will cost you much more than buying better model.

Re: s7420 or an old rg7420exc

I just got an Indonesian made S7320 which is a 22 fret version of the S7420. Here's my experience in a nut shell on first arrival:

1-High frets had to be evened out.
2-Resoldered stock bridge pu wiring to contacts on the on the pickup switch to get it to sound test normal. Bottom neck coil was being tapped into during switch position 1-Bridge/series. UHHG!!!!!!
3-A few turns on the truss rod, action adjustement was only needed...........

All in all, not too shabby. Basically there's nothing A. Salim(name on inspection card) can screw up that a competent guitar owner can't fix. In my case, for 399.99 base price for this guitar(This guitar is on sale -I guess demand for a white 22 fret 7 string is bleak), I'm not complaining at all especially after replacing those pickups/strings. I personally think the S even for 699.99 would be better for you especially if you like the ZR.

Re: s7420 or an old rg7420exc

ok! first of all 7420 came out of the same fujigen factory as the team j crafts so obviously thats wrong about the quality part. and imoho the lo trs isnt terrible! the edge is a better trem yes but its better than like a floyd rose special or any other knockoff. and the v7 and v8s are also decent pick ups that why they still use them on some prestige models even today

7420 and 7620 are the same thing. different pick ups and trem, but body and neck wise they are the same. My 7421 had a neck that was stamped 7621.
