Saber Identification

Hello everybody. I just picked up another Saber and I have some questions. Here are the specs:
I believe it is a late 80's. It is in flawless condition.
Dark reddish Maroon metallic
hum/sing/sing (all active EMG's)
Low TRS trem in cosmo black with pop in bar
Ibanez tremsetter is factory stock.
Ibanez trem post locks (also standard for Ibanez)
fully bound neck and headstock
22 frets
sharkfins
5 way switch
Serial # is long and all numbers. It is stamped on the neckplate.
The neckplate reads the Bensalem, PA address
The other S540's I have has the serial number on the back of the headstock and that starts with an F.
I also have USRG20TP that was made in Bensalem by Dave Bunker. Is this guitar made there too?

Trem on my saber

I checked out the website section on Ibanez trems and I was wrong about my above post regarding my S540. My trem is the Low Pro Edge and not the TRS like I had stated.

it's simply a 540Pro Saber, made in Japan, assembled in the USA, maybe LR (Lipstick Red) finish? what's its serial number?

it is a long serial #. I will get it tonight and post it. How come most S540's have the serial # Fxxxxxxx on the headstock and mine has a long numerical only serial # on the neck plate?

back in late '80s, some 540Pro models (Radius, Saber, Power & Power-II) were made in Japan and assembled in the USA, and they used to put a non-Japanese plate on'em ('F' is for Fuji Gen Gakki, Japan, were Japanese models are made since the early 70s, i guess).
so you can find either Japanese and "American" -made 540Pro models from the late 80s, though the latter were not made in the USA, actually.

Re: Saber Identification

My RS 540 Saber serial no. on the plate has no F, the serial number stickers that came with it do have the F. I bought it in Toronto in 1989.

Serial no. F801094

By the way, after 15 years, this is still my main axe, until the JEM arrives. I also have an ESP EC1000 LTD Deluxe Black (no pics yet).
