Saber player considering an RG

I need (subjective) another tremolo equiped guitar. I currently have an S570M which I absolutely love. It has the ZR and a maple Wizzard III neck. Love the shape and the fret board. I have an SD Custom Custom and it sounds great. The ZR is perfect for me. I prefer Ebony fretboards (maple is the best substitute), but I have several rosewood guitars.

I recently bought and returned an EVH Special becuase I really wasn't feeling the vintage frets and the flat top. I do prefer more scuplted bodies. I have built many guitars from scratch and can make most anything play well. I have several Les Pauls, but only 1 Ibanez. AFter getting my first Ibanez over a year ago, it has become my main player. I still enjoy the LP's but the Ibanez just shreds.

I want a new guitar, not used. My concerns are feel, shape of the body in terms of how it will feel compared to my S, playabilty and trem feeling. Of course looks plays a part to and I have narrowed the field down a bit.

Here is what I am considering
S1XXV or anything S (EGEN8????)
RG1XXV
RG920
RG3570, possibly 3250, even the basic 1550 in Pumpkin.

I really want to keep this under $1400, but would really, really, prefer under $1000.

Thoughts?

Japanese Prestige S5470 or Japanese Egen.......end!

In your price range though you may have to go for the new premium S which look great.

Not really into either of those finishes, not to mention you never know whenor if those will hit the US.

There is a lot of good about the RG, I am really just not sure about body feel and shape. I am starting to think an EGEN8 might be the ticket, love the top, wish it had the ZR or the EZ.

RG is significantly heavier than an S, so keep in mind. Not as comfortable to play and weighs about 0.7kg/2 lbs more than an S in my experience. In terms offeel and ergonomics S is pretty much the bestguitar in the world so hard to justify RG on those terms

If you're afraid of weight versus an RG then you might want to rethink RGs. Then again you said you own a few LP's so maybe weight isn't an issue.
If you want new Prestige for under $1,000 you may be SOL. I would try and find an RG1550 used that's in good shape if you want to stick your toe in the water with RG's.

Can we suggest non-Ibanez guitars here?

If you like the thin body of the S and want something that plays fast with a thin neck, look at Parkers.

not so much weight as the sleek feel, but the weight is a part of that.

Maybe a better question is given that I love the feel of the S series, what do I gain with a RG.

I love the S series too...and I've got the same questions as you. I feel like the RG series has many more options/finishes/etc...however, I keep feeling like I want an RG with a ZR trem or something...or sometimes I want RG specs with an S body :/ haha

Re: Saber player considering an RG

Well I went ahead and ordered a RG1XXV and an EGEN8. That should answer my questions a bit. Most likely one will be returned. But then again, maybe not.

Re: Saber player considering an RG

Well, thanks to Sweetwater the RG arrived very, very quick. Shipped Thursday, recieved today. (Wow) My rep gave me a good deal too. This thing is very comfortable. I really like the way it feels, it is not a S, but in some ways better.

I do think the body adds a bit more sustain and brightness.
