Sanded UV77MC price suggestion

Hi everyone,

I'm quite new on the jemsite and I wanted to ask your opinion on the price I should ask for a UV77MC in good condition but with the body sanded?

Best regards
Fred

Re: Sanded UV77MC price suggestion

Here are some pix. It is currently disassembled and I'm thinking to have it setup by a professional and sell it if I receive interesting offers. Otherwise I'll probably try to repaint it...

Regards
Fred

Re: Sanded UV77MC price suggestion

Hope the thread will not turn into the "why did you do that" kind of thing... I bought this because I wanted a 7 string and at that time no alternative was available to me.

Re: Sanded UV77MC price suggestion

my opinion...I don't think you will get much for it...the uniqueness of a MC Universe is that of the MC - which yours has been sanded away. So it's no different than 7 string needing a paintjob. Which will run anywhere from $350 - $500 depending on what you get.

So my opinion...

Body - $80
Neck - $175
Pickups - $150
Tem - $100
Pickguard - $25
----------------
Total: $530 - MAYBE - but I don't know. You figure whoever buys it, on top of that is going to need to spend that $350+ to get it painted.

I could be way off here, like I said - my opinion...

Re: Sanded UV77MC price suggestion

I suspect, as Rodzo surmises, that it's actually worth more as parts than as a complete guitar. A UVMC with no paint is, after all, no different to a UV7BK with no paint....

I beg to differ, what you have is the pyramid inlay and the rear routed body. All the trappings that make the 77 different from the other UVs.

I'd suggest trying to sell it to a swirler who can then put the swirl back on the guitar or put it on the market as that being the thing to do. I'd have it reswirled if I bought it

Re: Sanded UV77MC price suggestion

I definitely don't think that the swirl is worth the price difference between the UV77MC selling price and 530$. It is clearly not an original UV77MC anymore, still. I think I will definitely go into Jono's direction. I have already received a few PMs with good offers from guys wanting to redo the swirl themselves.

Regards

Re: Sanded UV77MC price suggestion

That neck is worth at least $500, maybe more depending on if it's been refinished or just lost the logo which can be put back on, depending on condition, not that i looked at lots of pics. The last mint neck I sold was $1200.
