Scott Ian's new Washburn signature model!!!

I never thought I'd actually see the day that Scott Ian put down the Jacksons!!!

http://washburn.com/ian/

Although the jackson site hasn't been updated yet.

In truth I think I prefer the Jacksons. What do you think guys?

I think they look great but at that price point I can't see them moving very easily. As cool as Scott and Anthrax are, he's not exactly Vai or Eddie in terms of endorsement weight.

Re: Scott Ian's new Washburn signature model!!!

I must admit I prefer the Washburns. All three of them look pretty tasty to me. The Jackson model always looked a little "plain" to me as a whole. But those carved top Washburn models look great. Like Petie said though, he isnt exactly a "major card" for endorsement weight terms. What pickup has he got in those Washburns anyways? They look like Bill Lawrence.

I presume that the pickups will probably be Scott's Seymour Duncan model, the El Diablo which is basically a screamin' demon with bar pole pieces like a dimebucker.

Well, I've been watching a lot of Jackson endorsers leaving ever since Fender bought the company. I remember Dave Mustaine saying that the new management was a bitch to deal with, so he left.

i heard he was going to buy the company a number of times but they decided to sell to fender... quite a shame IMO... i mean, what would be more metal than having dave take over jackson.

Re: Scott Ian's new Washburn signature model!!!

That would have been pretty awesome - they would be churning out some excellent axes right now if he had taken over! I know what everybody means about the "Fender" thing though - it puts me off slightly, even though I know it shouldnt! But I havent really been a huge Jackson fan anyways.

I prefer the Jacksons myself. The old one they did with the Tattoo artwork looked really cool. Could never get used to the 'Ransom Note' Jackson logo tho'!

Re: Scott Ian's new Washburn signature model!!!

I definitely prefer the Washburns to the Jacksons (especially with the carved tops).

Though I'd really like to see an Ibanez Scott Ian model, based on the Artist or AX series.

Re: Scott Ian's new Washburn signature model!!!

I really dig this new model. His signature model pickup is a screaming demon with bar pole peices? Sounds like the missing link for my tone! lol. I need to try that thing out. Anthrax may not be the hottest band on earth but dont they have a big overseas following?

According to the Duncan site, his pickup is a custom shop model.

Re: Scott Ian's new Washburn signature model!!!

They look great, but at that price, how many will sell? I hope they sound as good, if not better, than they look. Those prices are well within the range of a nicely built custom guitar that's one-of-one to your own specs, as opposed to something someone else designed.
