Seller's regret - REDEMPTION

Five or six years ago I was busy buying Ibanez guitars and parting them out. RGs almost always got parted, S series usually got parted, and a Radius never got parted. The guitars I didn't part out I flipped.

In April of 2006 I ehayed the stoptail S series below. It is a SF420FM. Korean and only made in 1996.

This was the only S I've ever played that sat comfortably on me. The guitars with trems I just couldn't get into.

So now it's Jan, 2011 and I got to searching the www for another SF420. And how about I find the same guitar and email the owner that I'd like to buy it. Here's a picture taken by the previous owner.

After some back and forth with the owner, I now have it hanging on my wall and ready to play. And, Oh, it is a fun one to play.

Even the truss rod cover is cool. It is multiply black and white instead of the typical just black Ibanez TRCs.

Talk about the ultimate family reunion! That's almost as good as Vai finally getting back his stolen yellow Jackson eyeball guitar.

That's how I feel. I've read posts in the past about people reuniting with gear they'd sold. I always thought, 'cool for them'. Never thought I'd have the same opportunity.

Although, if I was suddenly able to have back all the guitars that I've owned I'd need a new room or two to keep them all in order. An almost scary thought.

Do you still have that S? Have more now? You won't be getting this one :-) It's on perma-keep.

Re: Seller's regret - REDEMPTION

Coolest TRC would obviously be Multiply Black Black Black. Y'know: how more black could it be?

I'd go one better and just have 11 truss rods installed. And have all the covers gloss black-black-black-black-black.

Naturally I would then have a guitar more akin to a dulcimer or harp with a fretboard, but whatever.

Re: Seller's regret - REDEMPTION

LOL.... If anybody EVER sees an RGT42DXFMDR with a mini-switch in between the knobs....PLEASE LET ME KNOW.
It was the best sounding guitar I ever owned, Makes my RGT3120 sound like a GIO. maybe I could join the "lucky ones" then..............lol

Re: Seller's regret - REDEMPTION

Ahh the good ol' days of parting out Ibanez...

It was good while it lasted, and it paid for most of my gear.

Congrats on getting it back!
