If you have a Serial number but can't find a model # how do you?

Example: F9835913 is what Model # and year????

Thanks

I don't think you can tell the model from the serial number, well you can't with the standard F Japanese serials or most of the others. They'll really only give you what year the guitar was made. An F serial number can denote anything from a lower end MIJ RG or S Series right up to a Jem or J Custom with no special serial number to differentiate the models in the F serial number format.

The serial number you posted above denotes a guitar made in the Fujigen factory in 1998. F = Fujigen/ First 2 digits after that denotes the year/ Last 5 digits are the production number ie number 35913 of guitars made that year. Pre 1997 Japanese built guitar from 1987 to 1996 in Fujigen would have just the first number denoting the year, ie F7 = 1987, F3 = 1993, F6= 1996.
