Set up woes - New Ibanez RG520 tuning problems
Ok, here is the story. Does it come with a happy ending?.......well read on.
I recently bought a new RG, then I had to go away from home for a few weeks due to work. Came back for a week then away again. So I get back and i've not played any guitar for about a month. So i pick up my brand new 520 and have a moment of whammy mayhem.
Instant out of tuneness.
So I retune thinking it could be the strings. But i'm getting a bad feeling about this to quote a Star Wars line.
So playing again it goes out of tune the moment you pull back on the bar. Lowering the bar does not put it back in tune. So Blades are OK
I check the studs and tighten the post lock screws re-tune, wham, out of tune, Damn!!
This is where I decide I'll change the strings and possibly put a lo pro on it. I notice that the string block is longer on the lo pro which would hit against the trem plate unless I angled the neck or cut a square out of teh trem plate ala Gambale.this seemed too much hassle at that point in time and I don't want to hack up my new guitar so I have a look at the edge trem. The blades are fine but the saddles were set up in an // formation so I flattened this out so it wasn't so exaggerated. I didn't use a tuner so intonation isn't spot on but now it stays perfectly in tune.
This is possibly an old fix covered in the tech section but so many people mail asking for the solution.
1 Look at the tech site *( I was lazy but know what to look for)
2 Follow the instructions on the tech site
3 If the problem still persists go back to step one or pay a lot of money to a pro who will take 20 mins ( Including two coffee breaks to fix it)
All is happy in the Pablo site. Now to put the PUPs in.......
