Should I buy this? RG350DX - 200$

RG350DX - 200$

I have an 80s USA Rhoads that's nice as hell but uncomfortable to play. I'm tight on money and want something that has some good play-ability.

I'm sure I'll have to swap the pups, but...

What do you guys think?

Please excuse the link mods

If you like it--get it.
I think if you look around a bit--you'll find a better guitar in that price range.

Could you elaborate more? I know an alright amount about guitars in general, but not the Ibanez guitars.

What would be a more appropriate price for this guitar, and what specs should I look for?

RG 500 series!
The trems are better as well as build and other hardware.

Agreed. Search the whole SF bay area and you'll find some good stuff. Example: a RG560 up for grabs in Santa Cruz. Even though I'm broke I'm on watch in NorCal.

The one with a pic where the guitar is laying face down on the bathroom tile? Why would someone do such a thing lol.

Maybe I'd be better off finding one online? Shipping prices aren't that bad online, but I guess for all I know it has imperfections only felt when playing. =\

I see a: Ibanez RG770 floyd rose, MIJ, rg 770, Dimarzio Pickups, Hardcase & Strap Lock

on ebay for 350 + $20 shipping.

ebay . com/itm/Ibanez-RG770-floyd-rose-MIJ-rg-770-Dimarzio-Pickups-Hardcase-Strap-Lock-/110888816605?pt=Guitar&hash=item19d17d0fdd#ht_2201 wt_772

Thanks for saving me from this buy guys. I'm still unsure, Ibanez guitars seem to have so many variable components compared to other manufacturers, which is great if you're knowledgeable enough.

Maybe I'm expecting too much by wanting the best of both worlds in terms of quality and a low price. I want that sense when I hold the guitar that it's an instrument and not a toy with a form that allows a perfectly intonated feel.

Are there any other good online mediums for finding my future axe? I can't say much how I appreciate the help.

I find everything on craigslist, and cheap too! I run into a lot of weirdos and motormouths that way but at least I can try it before I buy it.

Re: Should I buy this? RG350DX - 200$

I saw that blue 770 the other day, my only gripes besides the finish is a crusty bridge and neck cracks behind the nut. Those aren't deal breakers by any means but I would personally hold out for something else, they're not rare. Always ask them for fret pics if they don't post them, they could be pancakes for all you know.

Re: Should I buy this? RG350DX - 200$

I'm not exactly a Rockefeller, but if someone can find me the quality axe I'm looking for at a killer rate I could send ya say $10.00 via pay pal.

According to a previous thread:

"Keep your eye out on the bay or your local CL. I have seen RG770's go for under $400 USD

I have seen RG550 for as low as $300 USD.

RG350 are nice as well... which are dirt cheap if you find them used,"

"you should go for:

Edge or Edge LoPro tremolo!!!!!
That leaves you with RG 550 upwards!

EDGE
EDGE LoPro
Edge ZR (Zero Resistance)
Everything with II or III should be avoided (such as Edge III or ZR II), you won't have much fun for a longer period of time!

Body-Wood is important!! Don't accept anything else but Basswood, Ash, Alder or Mahogany!!"

I'd like the bridge to have POWER, yet clarity. I guess the most helpful thing I can say is that I played my friends Charvey, and wasn't too fond of the ToneZones.

For a neck pick up, I love the pronounced warm bluesy sound I get from my Duncans in my Rhoads.

I know there are so many factors, but something like this:

Re: Should I buy this? RG350DX - 200$

For 2xH you want to look for rg520, 550, 570, 750, 770
All are basswood or mahogany and come with the Edge or Edge Lo Pro. You will most likely want to replace the bridge pickup in all of those.

Why not post a WTB in the classified here?

Don't post ebay links--that's a big no-no.
Instead, post some pics for us--we'll help you find a good one.

What would really help would be to know your actual budget...... Right now I'm looking at a BEAUTIFUL 1990 RG570PN in what looks to be brand new condition........the seller is asking $499.....not a bad price for an all original time capsule!!!

You may also want to check out Manticus' classified ad. It's almost always safer to buy here than anywhere else.
