Should I buy a vintage Charvel?

Single pickup, an unknown uncovered Seymour Duncan. Black hardware, nonlocking trem- appears to be original hardware. Great condition. Frets in good shape. Fort Worth, TX neck plate. Year unknown. $349.

I know, I know, I'll try to post some pics.

Re: Should I buy a vintage Charvel?

Okay, I did some research and calmed down a bit. Seems like it's MIJ, and a fair price, but not an amazing deal. Opinions still most welcome.

Re: Should I buy a vintage Charvel?

the japanese charvels are nice workhorse guitars...some of the old san dimas charvels were much much better though...late 90's they reissued the pointy heads made in usa...they usu go for around a grand used...i'd go for one of those before a japanese one...the so cals and pro mods are ok but lack that sleek charvel neck feel the old usa ones had...d.m.

I have a toothpaste logo MIJ Charvel. Been with me since 1989. Highly recommended. Pictures... will help.

Re: Should I buy a vintage Charvel?

I picked up a 90 or 91 toothpaste logo Charvel Predator a while back in decent shape. Has that same Texas plate on it, but was MIJ. Plays fantastic! Wasn't a fan of the stock pickups (H-S), but an EMG 81 & SA really made it come alive. Super comfortable guitar to play, but I blocked the cheaper tremolo and use it like a hardtail.

Re: Should I buy a vintage Charvel?

Scored an '87 MIJ Charvel M4 w/ a partially upgraded bridge (to an FR w/ brass block .. but original saddles) for $200. Pink. LOVE it. Just got OFR saddles, inserts, and screws to complete the upgrade (and y'know, be able to intonate it properly for 10s). Such a beautiful sounding and playing guitar.
