single coil without buzz..?

i'm thinking about switching ibanez S1 pickup to something else on my newly acquired RG550LTD... it's too noisy...
and i'm looking for a single coil that has no (or significantly less) buzz...
i was thinking about EMG s4..
what other pickups are out there?
i need some true single coil sound without buzz...
mind if you people help me out here?
thanks in advnace~~

Dimarzio Area pickups. I prefer the Area 67 for a chimey, bell-like Strat tone.

Re: single coil without buzz..?

There are no 'true' single coils without buzz, unless you want to get a dummy coil like some Suhrs have. There are lots of stacked pickups that sound very close to single coils, but cancel hum as well.

???? I don't think so. I love the Chopper for it uber fat tone but it does not have that classic single coil chime.

If you ask this question on the Fender boards, a lot of folks will recommend the Dimarzio Area pickups as their choice for hum-canceling single coils.

Re: single coil without buzz..?

Dimarzio Areas are great pickups. I use 58/58/61 setup in my main strat and have no hum issues.

Eh I'm a Chopper fanboy. It gets close enough to a strat sound for me and it can hang with with heavy hitters like a Tone Zone or an Evo. But the Areas ARE very nice from what I've heard.
