So...I got my hands on a RG3550MZ today...

And after swearing off maple fretboarded guitars (being unhappy with my PGM301s lack of heaviness) and I must say...I am THOROUGHLY impressed...

I was however a little taken back with the slightly increased wideness of the new neck design; it made it more difficult to sweep with my tiny girl hands, but ultra shredding was less stressful because the strings were less cluttered. I imagine in the heat of battle when i'm going crazy on stage i'd make less note-accidents with the strings further apart like that.

I am seriously considering investing in one; now I just wanna know how it sounds with my Mesa! Looks like I gotta take a second trip back to GC!

Any input from 3550MZ/Mesa owners??

So did you buy mate or did you just try one out? Been gasing after one of those for a while now but they aren't available to the European market. Boo Hoo!!! Needless to say my reaction on hearing this was akin to the reaction of the eponymous character in the below clip, Lol!!!

Lol, funny you brought up Twist (that's the only Korn song I like!)

No, I haven't bought it yet, but I may jump on it very soon, I've been itching for a new Prestige or J-Custom for about a month now. I have to get my Mesa out of the shop and take it up there to test it out. I was asking if anyone with a Mesa owns one and how it sounds.

Don't feel bad...at least your money is actually worth something over there! I'm gonna have to sell a car to buy this sucker lol!

The string spacing is no different, just more room from the e's to the edge of the frets.

I can't comment on the exact model in question, but I alwys find Tone Zones in RGs sound too muddy through a Mesa.

I'm currently salivating over the 3550MZ in Galaxy White but I think the Jackson Adrian Smith San Dimas is going to win out (for now...).

Cheers,

Race
