so i may wanna mod my $300 RG2EX1

I got my old Ibanez RG2EX1 in 2007 (basswood, bolt on, fixed bridge), and immediatly put an EMG 81/85 in it, and just sold them around a month ago when i got my new jackson. so now it has no pickups. it has a bunch of dings and paint chips, but i think it has potential. The bridge was missing a saddle, and i just took it off.

Okay, so first of all, I need to put some good pickups in it. I was considering a BKP Miracle Man/Cold Sweat set, or a DiMarzio Crunch Lab/Liquifire, and maybe even DiMarzio Evo 2 and Air Norton. What would you reccomend? I play anywhere from prog/thrash/melodic death metal, to jazz/classic rock/blues and other lighter genres of music. I use a mesa mark iii, and i love a tight, crunchy tone.

Second of all, i'm gonna get a new bridge, what would you reccomend that will fit?

Lastly, what else could I do to make it a kickass guitar? What mods could I do? I will maybe get it plek'd, or professionally setup to make it play nice. Would it be even worth fixing up, or should I just get a whole new guitar (probably a LP type around $500, or course i'll put new PUps in it). So any reccs?

I said, "screw that," but I plan on getting a custom neck made for my RG321 and putting a sustainer in it and I only paid $300 for it including shipping. Of course it lists at $500 in Canada but still the neck and sustainer will cost more than the $500 let alone the $300. But still less than buying a whole new guitar.

I think you should definitely hold onto it. It's a solid guitar...sort of the basswood version of the RG321. Great for modding. Maybe along with the pickups, you can upgrade the electronics for starters.

If you've already got it, it's free to you, and it isn't an expensive guitar to start with. Itr could be a good one to learn on.

Unless you plan on getting a better neck, I personally wouldn't do it. But its your money!

I modded a 400 series, but anything below that I'd probably not even consider.
