So I played the 25th anniversary RG Premiums the other day...

...and I wouldn't have known it was made in Indonesia, I would have thought it was a Prestige made in Japan. There's nothing wrong with these guitars. I'd say these were 100% on par with any Prestige I've ever played with the benefit of better fretwork too. The inlays were immaculate. These guitars were certainly better than my 2550z.

What's more, they felt really solid and robust. They have a 5 piece neck, but it feels more like a dual skunk stripe neck than the 5 piece Prestige necks. Also felt just a bit chunkier, but that was probably just my own perception vs. reality. Maybe it was the psychological impact of the neon colors (seriously, the colors are REALLY close to the original SK and DY), but I think they capture the feel of the old 777s better than anything other than the originals themselves.

Glad you like it!! I got to try a Premium for the first time yesterday. I would certainly say it is better than my RG520. Awesome neck, pickups, bridge... everything. Amazing finish, too. It was the violet one.

Re: So I played the 25th anniversary RG Premiums the other day...

I think the ones I played at GC were some of the worst ones made.
Everyone I've talked to loves them.
I'm glad to hear another good review.
I'm getting a used one from another member here.
He's already told me the one I'm getting from him was well build.
After the two I played at CG, I was not going to get one blind mail order.
I'll have it tomorrow.
I'll take some pics of all three pinkish Ibanez guitars.

RG500 Road Flare Red
RG1XXV Neon Pink
JEM777 Shocking Pink

I've been to two Guitar Centers within a 20 mile radius or so and neither of them had any 25th anniversary RGs. One of the Guitar Centers (the bigger one) only had like one Ibanez and it was a 300 series or something.

The other Guitar Center (the smaller one) had a few 300s and a 400 and then a Jem7VW, although they did have a poster for the 25th Anniversary RGs.

The local Sam Ash has two 25th anniversary RGs I played the pink one on two separate occasions and it was very, very nice.

Is the old original Road Flare Red significantly different than the 2007 re-issued RG20th RFR?

I ask because I own an RG20th in road flare red and I wouldn't say it's "pinkish" in the slightest. Orange-ish, yes. But definitely not pink.

Glad more people are actually trying the Premiums before passing judgement. I still think they hit a hom3 run with these!

Good reports from Indo Sourced S570/RG570 Necks also.

Just bought one to throw on a Project.

The local GC here has two that they put openly on stands on the floor. They felt great. My only worry is the hardware that looks and feels cheap and I suspect will not withstand a decade of abuse as former Ibby hardware. yMMV.

My old school RG550RFR looks Pink sometimes and Orange sometimes.
The light can really effect how it looks.

I've never seen a reissue FRF to see how it looks.
When I put my RG550FRF next to my JEM777SK, they look almost the same color.
My JEM777SK has no fade to the paint, it looks the same under the pickguard.

There haven't been any RG570s in over 10 years, so I'm not sure about "Indo sourced RG570 necks."

Your SK has a distinctly orange tint to it. I wish I would have taken a picture of it next to mine. The difference is noticeable between the two guitars. There's no fading to yours, but I think that the clear has ambered somewhat, which is giving it the orange tint. The color of the headstock is more what it's supposed to look like. Put the headstock next to your RFR and see how those compare.

The RFR's had a tendency to fade to pink while the SK's had a tendency to become more orange, which could in the end cause them to look almost the same.

They are very close in color.
The JEM is more Pink, just a little.
The RG is more Orange, just a little.
I like the RG color better, it is more fluorescent than the JEM.
