as far as I can tell, a PGM is an RG-450 with stickers on it.

Wizard II Neck
TRS trem
Ibanez INF pickups
basswood body

(except for the strange paint job and no tone knob) *what's the difference?

....about the only other thing I can think of is the reverse headstock and maple fingerboard. Of course, there is a "real" PGM with the Wiz-type neck, Lo Pro bridge and DiMarzio pickups but those (from what I understand) are harder to come by.

In the States you have the PGM30 = JEM555... In Japan you can get a PGM300 new... a very nice guitar with PAF pros, maple neck and lo-pro.... There are also the PGM500 with the tonezone and Humbucker from Hell and fixed bridge... the PGM900, which has a Tallman body, instead of the RG.... but the best in my opinion is the PGM800, a natural finished ash RG with tonezone pickups, red f-holes and a fixed bridge... wish it had the lo-pro... I don't think these last three models are still being manufactured... I think there's also a PGM100, but i have no information about it... *oh oh... almost forgot about the PGM90HAM... that's probably the one that beats the PGM800...

The PGM30.....What can I say

I had one. The black chrome on the machine heads comes off easily. NOT on the bits you turn but the bolt thing that clamps it to the headstock. Mine expanded like a concertina so I needed some replacements.

Same with the PUP rings they corrode very quickly.

I wasn't impressed.

An RG is cheaper, built better and has better hardware.

It seems like the only difference is that it is a signature model, so it seems that it is based on the RG series but "customized" to the specs of Paul Gilbert.

If I had to choose, it would be the RG for me. I'd rather not pay for the name associated as well as the fancy paint job. The RG is alot of guitar for the money.

Best regards.
