some progress

yeah i worked on the guitar for about 10 hours today with the sanding and cutting out the back. Still need to check out the walnut lol. I need to work out the contour on the "hip" of the guitar. Kind of wide, I'm making it smaller. I'm just a little tired right now I'll do it later. You can see the start of the almost "tree of life" stylings of the contours starting up by the horn where the contour splits into 2. Don't mind the chisel marks near the hip i'll sand that out when I'm a little less tired. I also put in the customary strat arm rest thingy. yeah enjoy the pics. tell me what you think. I know it looks rough now but its in the very rough stages.

i cut it out with a dremel. stop insulting it people. thats not very kind I dont have the tools. I made this guitar with 20 hours of hard work on with my dremel and sand paper. so just stfu about the monkey grip I will fix it when I use my friends router and spindle sander. relax and appreciate the rest of it.

I'm not insulting the workmanship, I can understand a work in progress fully, it's moreso just wondering whether or not you've noticed that the overall shape of it is all wrong?

yes i notice that teh shape of the monkey grip is a little off. clearly you dont understand how much work goes into a guitar. you should be a little kinder when posting about someone elses guitar. it is a work in progress, i will put it into its shape. do not bash my guitar.

When you asked people to tell you what they thought were you just expecting compliments?

how would you like it to work for 20 hours on something and someone tell you that its "terrible". I wasnt expecting all compliments but at least say clean up the monkey grip instead of telling someone it sucks. not cool.

I don't know about everyone else, but to me Two Hands was just giving his opinion.

He didn't say, "your work is crap", or "you don't know what you're doing", all he said was that he thought the monkey grip was terrible. In my opinion the monkey grip is slightly skewif, and the whole carved top thing is not my cup of tea.

But still good work. Good idea. Grip is skewif though

wil..

When you ask for thoughts, and your work isn't spot on 100%, you better have thicker skin. because people will actually tell you what they think, good or bad.

Forums are a great place to get an honest opinion, if you really want one Show pics when you get further, but I doubt that will ever look like a real Jem grip [if that was the intent], but nothing in the rules that says you can't design your own grip
