Lol, agreed. They seem to be missing a decade or two of history....

And nowhere on that page does it say S series kick a**!

I'm thinking maybe Herman wrote this, lol...

Re: Somebody needs to rewrite the wikipedia article on the S series

In case someone one rewrites it before you got a chance to read, here is what it says

The Ibanez S is a guitar made by Ibanez. A very popular guitar, the S series is used by famous metal guitarist, Herman Li. Having noticable similarities to the Steve Vai signature guitar JEM, the S series could be considered "Super Stratocasters". However, it could be considered a lower-end guitar as well, being that the S series is standard, while the JEM is custom. Using both Humbucker and Single Coil pickups, the S series is a very flexible guitar, having the capability to be used in punk rock, metal, Nu-metal, Alternative rock, or any other kind of rock.

The S series uses a Zero-Resistance (ZR) tremolo system, and, according to Herman Li, "Stays in tune no matter what kind of crazy things I do." Having similaristies to the Stratocaster, the S series may have taken root ideas from the Fender-brand Stratocaster.

Re: Somebody needs to rewrite the wikipedia article on the S series

i dont think that is strictly a "correct" way of drawing comparisons though! The JEM isnt custom as such, its more a signature model
the S is like an RG only with body contours that focus the mass around the bridge and pickups, 22 frets and a rounder shape!
and RG is a square edged more basic yet more pointy guitar with 24 frets and different trem options and endorsees.

Re: Somebody needs to rewrite the wikipedia article on the S series

Okay...I edited it a little bit.

There may be some spelling errors and maybe one or two informational errors as it's late at night...but I took one read of that and couldn't stand it...down right horrible...

I hope I did the S series a little bit of justice...somebody with more knowledge on the S series please built on that...

Re: Somebody needs to rewrite the wikipedia article on the S series

It should read something fun, like, "The S series accompanied Christopher Columbus on the Santa Maria, so was therefore the first guitar with a locking tremolo system in the New World. It was also originally made entirely of carrots, with wood replacing most of the carrot bits late in the 18th century"

lol.
I ran out of something smart to say, and that was one of the things Kevin said that made sense as to why many S users would like it, so I added that in!
