Someone stop me....another Ibanez added to the stable

Man, I haven't even received the RG500 I just won off **** and I've gone and bought another guitar. Picked up an amber burst Ibanez SZ520 for $275. I know that's a pretty good deal on those, plus, the **** seller is local and there is only a $5 pickup fee, so I didn't even have to pay shipping.

I had actually planned on getting one of those before but wound up buying an ARC300 instead.

If anything, he should give you $5 because you're saving him messing about with postage and packaging.

Wow, the world can be backwards sometimes!

No offense, but it sounds as if you think you're getting the benefit of this maneuver. That would be like me sending my wife to pick up a pizza, and then charging her for the gas that it cost to go pick it up.

At any rate, congratulations on the new axes!

Well, the $5 don't bother me so much. As someone who sells quite a bit, I look at it as covering the time to create the listing, evilbay fees, etc. Plus, even with the $5 fee, I'm still getting a good deal on the guitar and a better deal than it would have been to pay $30 for shipping.

Just drop the $275, grab the Ibanez, and walk out the door.

I was just looking at that guitar in the catalog this morning and thought, "That's a nice looking guitar. I think I may want one!"
Congrats on your two new guitars. Maybe there should be an Ibanez/guitar addiction support group?

Right, the seller could have just as easily said "Sorry, I don't do local pickups for safety reasons", then you end up paying $30, and it likely would have cost him less than $15 to ship it locally, and he would have made more, and you would have spent more. And, basically if you don't pay the 5 bucks, then he's going to tell you "too bad, then you're paying the $30 and I'm shipping it" anyway.

I think we've become spoiled because that auction place that we dare not speak of is contrary to most auction houses in that the SELLER pays fees, not the buyer (ever go to a local auction then get shocked when you have to pay up to 10% above your bid for a "buyer's premium"?), so that kind of thing never bugs me, it's a very small price to pay and the seller is getting a couple of bucks for his time, etc - and it's especially cool since you're also not paying local sales tax.

That's my $.02. Either way, it's a great deal man, great buy.

Anyway, like Andre said, don't stop there, keep on buying Ibanez!!!

Re: Someone stop me....another Ibanez added to the stable

From what I remember of regular auctions, they auction house took their cut as a percentage of the selling price, thus the buyer paid what they bid and the seller paid the selling fees as a percentage of the sold price.

Re: Someone stop me....another Ibanez added to the stable

Yeah....picked it up today. Plays great. I can tell the thing just kind of sat around the house and didn't get played because of the way the dust is on it. Although, I wonder if the owner was a smoker or not? Could be the gig bag but I feel like I notice a wierd smell. Will probably go away soon enough. Ony a few mild buckle/button scratches on the back. Almost zero pick scratches. Plays great. I'll probably even keep the stock pickups in as they actually sound fairly good.
