sooo many Ibanez (which is for me?)

Im looking for a nice used guitar. Something that sounds great and plays easily. Wizard 1 or maybe Super... need it thin

The problem is there are just way too many to research and ive done my fair share. Just looking for opinions. $500 or less is my budget and i play metal.

I love the S. But wouldn't mind an rg.

Used to have an S-5470. Was great WAY overpriced for ****ty pups and no sustain tho.

Re: sooo many Ibanez (which is for me?)

I especially recommend the RG520 because of the mahogany body.

Sorry for the triple post. Keep forgetting to add stuff. And I can't edit on a PS3

Re: sooo many Ibanez (which is for me?)

If you want a really thin neck, stick with the original wizard. I have a 570 with one and also a 470 with a wizard 2 and I can really feel the difference. I had a MIJ S470 with LoPro bridge which was really nice and held tuning well but I think the original edge has a nicer feel My 570 is 23 years old and has seen a lot of play time and it still hold tune perfectly. So 2 things to remember (IMO) original wizard, original edge! Good luck in your search!

A used RG570. IMO the ones from the late 90's to '02 are the best; with the Super Wizard with the bubinga stripe. You can find these for between $300-400 used, in good shape and maybe even for less.

Re: sooo many Ibanez (which is for me?)

Thanks guys, so lets narrow it down. Which has Original Wizard and original edge?? I like to stay in tune. Also which will sound the best. Ive got my eye on a 540p. What about those??

Re: sooo many Ibanez (which is for me?)

Almost everything I listed has an Original Wizard. And they all have an Original Edge or Lo-Pro (which is every bit as good as an OE).

Re: sooo many Ibanez (which is for me?)

Good news... im thinking RG 570 or S540 would be best in my price rang, although the 770 looks nice.

Try to find an RG570DX. It's pretty much the same guitar as an RG770. Pickups aren't as good as the F-Series in the RG700's though.

Those are nice guitars but you should be on the watch for an original RG 550 - one came up here on CL for $450 ish and it was in pretty nice shape - I bought a 1990 RG 550 off CL earlier this year in that price range and it is the nicest playing and best sounding guitar I own - that was a golden age & model for Ibanez guitars imho...and I've had some nice guitars (Jem, RG Prestige, 520qs, strats, etc.)

Re: sooo many Ibanez (which is for me?)

The design of both the Ibanez RG and S guitars speak for themselves and in most cases should get a sound you like.

However, if they don't, it's fairly easy to get aftermarket pickups like the ever popular Duncan JBs or EMG 81s, both of what seem to most make their way into used hard rock influenced guitars to give them new life.

I'm guessing that by STL in your profile you are from St. Louis? Did you happen to see this add in the classifieds?

I did see that at one point it was on cl for 425. But dents and black color ate my last resorts.
