Is the spring block needed? (have just installed tremol-no)
Hi all. My question is pretty much the title. I have put the tremol-no on so I can use my guitar for drop D aswell as E standard like the guitar is set up for. The instructions for the tremol-no never mentioned whether to put the spring block bar thing that is normally screwed over the springs at the block end of the spring (rather than the hooped end of the spring) back on after re installed the springs following a trem-no install.
I did indeed keep the spring retainer but the clamp doesn't look seated correctly over the spring retainer and Im slightly concerned that the bad seating will cause some issue (I have noticed the guitar somewhat (almost a quarter step) out of tune when i come to play it since installing the tremol-no and before the tuning hardly changed over weeks).
I have searched the net and some people say its OK but ive seen people write that the springs can fly out mid playing if there is no retainer?
Advice much appreciated.
