Static noise coming from humbuckers

Hello

1. I have a jackson RR and the pickups create a very distinguishable static noise when I turn the volume up or down.

It is the most prominent when I hit open strings.

When I hold notes it seems fine but when the string rings out more noise.

The pickups are the jackson standards that come with it.

2. How do you replace the control knobs?

Thanks

Re: Static noise coming from humbuckers

Perhaps you could clean or oil the inside of the pots first.

I don't use spray contact cleaner because it can come into contact with guitar's finish. Not good.

A light oil can be applied directly inside the pot, with the control cavity cover removed.

Try that, moving the knob back & forth, if pots are scratchy.

Otherwise, replacing is ... removing knobs, removing pots, de-soldering, re-soldering.

If the wood is protected by metal like a Les Paul, spray some silicon spray in the pots. Wipe excess spray off and it will not do any harm. Bet that will help!
