Strings for drop C tuning

I've joined a new band who plays drop C tuning. I used my Gibson 6 string with a standard 010 - 052 set, but I find the strings too floppy. I want to start using my AX7221 because of better sound. Right now I have a 060 bass-string on the bottom and a standard 010 - 052 set on the other 6 strings. I tuned these to a drop C tuning, but I'm scared that these strings will be too tight for the neck. I had problems with this doing drop A tuning om my Gibson 6 string. Anyone have any recommendations for what strings I can use on my AX7221 without having too much tension on the neck, and without the strings getting too floppy?

Hope this wasn't too confusing heh

Thanx

Is it a Les Paul? Then the 060 should be adequate, maybe you need a truss rod adjustment, but it tightens up the sound atleast.
And a 52 for the low G? That sounds a bit thick

Yea the 060 for the C on my AX felt fine, but yea the 052 for G was really tight, what set would you recommend for the rest of the strings?

I usually use a set of 11-50 for D standard.....anyting less and the strings feel loose-particularly for my picking hand.

On drop C I'll use a set of 11's like above and then replace the 6th string with a 52 or 54.......but this is all on a 25.5 inch scale guitar.

Yea this is for my 7 string AX7221 so I think i'll stick with a 060 on the bottom, but not sure what set to get for the last 6 strings.

I`d recommend a set of

009 G <--- High G, this is what you meant, right?
012 D
016 A#
028 F
038 C
048 G
060 C

Hey Wound, have a look at Ernie Ball's Beefy Slinkys. They are 11 gauge.

I know there's a company that makes strings specifically for low-tunings, and they have one designed for drop-C that has a .60 on the low-C. You could use that, and add something thin for the high string of your choice.

Everly(www.everlymusic.com/) "X-rockers", and they're even damn good strings to boot. Their C# tuning set is: .012 .016 .022 .038 .048 .060 ... Seems really tight to someone like me, who would use 10-52 strings in D or Db(C#)..

Personally, you could probably get away with a set of 9-46(.009 .011 .016 .026 .036 .046) strings and a low 58 or 60 added to it, they would much easier to find than making your own custom set.

I use 10-52s and a low 60 for my 7-string, and I sometimes tune everything but the G up a half-step (basically C-standard with an extra high string). So yeah, a standard set of 10s, or probably better 9s or lighter should work for drop-C with an extra high string.

Yea I have a standard 10 - 52 set plus a low 60 bass-string on my AX for my drop A tuning. I tried to tune it to drop C, but the strings were really tight so I'm scared I'll **** up the neck. So I think i will try the 09 - 46 set with the low 60 bass string, casue the low 60 string felt fine tuned to C.
