There was an acoustic Gilbert model, right?

I just bought Ibanez - The Untold Story book today and though this was not the first time I've read such claim, it also states in the book that EP7 is the first Ibanez signature avoustic ever. I remember seeing Paul Gilbert acoustic model, or does my memory fail me? Or is this another "ouside USA = does not exist" thing in this book since the guitar listings also list only US imported models?

Yes, there was a Paul Gilbert Acoustic; the PGA1000. It was available in two colors transparent red, and transparent blue. With a little arm twisting, we might be able to get EKG to post his PGM family photo so everyone can see them. --Jason

Damn. I hate it when these companies start acting like something in their history never happened just to keep sales regions nicely separated

I won't post it

The Vai acoustics are the first sig models avialable in the US. The Gilbert ones were only available in Japan and for a very short time, but were well before the EP models.

Re: There was an acoustic Gilbert model, right?

Seeing that the book was done by Ibanez over in the US, any and all information is only relavant to what was available in the US.

But you know, when you start to think about it, Paul Gilbert probably has the widest range of guitars that was publicly available. I know there are a whole bunch of Jem models but they're all shaped like a Jem whereas PG had several body shapes with the PGM tag.

The PGM 90 and the red one with the gold F holes both give me a boner.

I thought I remembered reading on the ibanez website when it came out that the Vai acoustics were the first sig acoustics.... well if it's on the US website, it's partially true at least!
