Thoughts on Ernie Ball John Petrucci 7 string?

Hey guys I've been looking around for 7 strings lately and I have to say I rather like the look of these babies Has anyone here had any experience with them? Cheers, Elliot

Awesome guitars, if I was going to spend the money on a high end 7 string I would buy another one in a second. The only complaint I had about mine was I ordered it, when it came in to the shop I picked it up, and after opening the case 2 days later there was already 2 finish cracks at the neck joint that weren't there when I picked it up. EB/MM offered to refinish the guitar but I didnt want to be bothered with the shipping.

I was considering one of these, but I ended up ordering a carvin because I could use my own specs and save a few bucks. But they are great, nonetheless!

The Petrucci EBMMs feel amazing in my arms. They just cradle in there so comfortably. I don't know what JP did with the design, but it rocks.

The best craftsmanship of any guitar I've played in 27 years. The necks
on them are incredible and they feel like an extension of your body.
Get the piezo option if you have the funds.

They really are awesome guitars, Im also thinking about getting one. Is there much difference with the BFR series to the original? Is there much of a tone difference?

I just have the JP6 but wouldn't hesitate on buying a JP7, the JP6 is super comfortable the neck is great.

I have a JP6 and a BFR6. There is a fair difference in tone. The BFR is a darker sounding guitar. Note have a little more pop. The JP6 sounds a little more aggressive with more of a midrange punch.
My main player is the BFR and, in my rig, when I switch to the JP6 I need to roll of the tone control just a little to compensate for the different tone.
Playability. The are basically identical. The BFR has a painted neck but due to the finish used on it, it's silky smooth and takes no getting used to going from the unfinished JP6 neck.

Do they still make the JP 7 that isn't a BFR? Cause I really don't have 3 grand to spend on a guitar right now. plus I like how the mystic dream 7 string looks.
