Thoughts on the IKEBE Prestige HRG7's?

Does anyone here own an Ikebe HRG7? I'm wondering about these guitars and with a pickup upgrade maybe they can be great? The price is good (considering an RG7321 over costs around £300). The HRG7 translates to £328 before shipping, and shipping from Japan to UK isn't too expensive.

Why are 7-strings so bland looking anyway!?

Re: Thoughts on the IKEBE Prestige HRG7's?

I think they're great. Prestige guitar, with fixed bridge and not black. Looks like a winning combination.

You can always change the pickups (AND paint the body). I would leave the color as it is though. It seems far more better than the APEX fixed bridge and the 7321 (the other fixed bridge sevens in the Ibanez line).

One question though: Is it a MIJ prestige?

Re: Thoughts on the IKEBE Prestige HRG7's?

Yeah, it is MIJ as far as I know, as are all Prestige RG's.

I agree on the finish, it's fine as it is. Besides, I need a workhorse guitar that can do everything (except tremolo, obviously). I have a nice 550RF already, so my neon craving is fixed, but I also think these might be a good foundation to work from, should I feel the need to paint/upgrade/change bits.

I think it would look good with cream and black zebra pickups, maybe a black or clear pickguard, maybe a loud colour, maybe white, I don't know, but for the price it looks like a bargain.

Those look pretty good! I cant tell from the photo, but are they missing the arm rest contour? They just seem a little flat.

I'm guessing by the time you add shipping and tax you'll be looking more at £600... cost about £500 (including shipping and about £350 tax...) to get my Jem from the USA with full insurance, and i doubt they'll under-insure them.

I'm in the UK. Shipping would probably be around £50. In total, I think It'd be well under £400 before any tax. Might not be worth it overall, but the only other option is a new RG1527 for a minimum of £500.

They do have the arm contour, btw.

Shipping only 50? UPS charged $199 to get my Jem from the US.... I guess slightly slower delivery will cost a lot less though.

I'd definitely choose one of those over the RG1527 though.

It would be shipped from Japan, not the US.

I have a HRG7 in Flat Black with dual EMG81-7.

It is pure sex and it shreds

Period.

Cool, thanks Scarve, it's good to know.

I'm wondering now if I'll miss the trem, that's the only thing that *slightly* puts me off buying one.

Buy a 7621!!! Incredible guitar. Beats any Universe I've ever played, and you can pick 'em up for around £300 from the bay. If the trem's a concern, I have no reason to believe a 7620 would play any worse...

Re: Thoughts on the IKEBE Prestige HRG7's?

Danny, if I was gonna buy a trem-equipped guitar I'd go for a 1527. I like having brand new guitars, it's a good feeling. I dislike the huge dot markers of the 76xx, the small ones on the 1527 look loads better to me. Also, that 1527 neck is a peach, construction-wise. I haven't seen many 7620's going for around the £300 mark anyway, to be honest. I think £400 is more realistic for a good condition one. As I said before, I need a real workhorse of a guitar. I would prefer there not to be any wear on the frets, hardware, etc., because I'd only end up spending money to get it fixed up, and if that happened, I might as well just bought a new 1527 for £499 or the HRG7 from Ikebe.

Now, if I could find a mint condition 7620 for £300 I'd be all over it.
