I like your collection but there seems to be a problem. I don't see any reverse headstocks.

Re: Took some pics today.

All that cash spent on fake Jems you could have bought a few real ones

Re: Took some pics today.

Not quite, I find most on craigslist and convert them, I paid 180 for a 550 and most 570's I buy are under 250. Plus I enjoy messing with them and customizing them, no fun in just buying one to hang I believe.

Re: Took some pics today.

Wow, that is really cool. Are those stock and/or DiMarzio, or did you add other stuff like Duncans and others? I like the visual appeal and if the pickups are different models, it can be fun to change them out to get a different overall sound.

I am waiting for plug and play, like EMGs, for Gibson, DiMarzio, and Seymour Duncan so a player could have an arsenal of pickups they can quickly swap out each time they change strings. A Jem with two 36th anniversary pickups and vintage single coil will sound quite a bit different than that same Jem with stock, hotter pickups. It could lend a lot of versatility and pretty much get those old Les Paul sounds and old Fender sounds without having to ditch the familiarity of the Jem.

So much is said about the wood, the top, the fingerboard and while one could hear some difference, the pickups on a solidbody electric guitar is the lion's share of the plugged in sound and it would be great to have plug and play pickups.

I agree. If you have the skill to cut in the monkey grip and refinish the guitar nicely, then there's no real need to buy a Jem. It may be fun to have one Jem, but otherwise the modding is a whole hobby in itself. I took a pretty standard and modern guitar (ESP LTD Viper 301 with EMG-HZs and black parts with TOM and stop tailpiece, 3 way switch, volume, tone) and turned it into a guitar with features that I wanted. Now it has chrome parts, an aluminum Bigsby B5, locking Grovers to compensate for such an old school trem, a push pull switch volume pot, and no more tone pot). The body has been shaved quite a bit to reduce weight. It has way more of a vintage set of tones, less sustain, and much more high end. It's no longer a metal guitar the way it was originally designed but switched in full humbucker mode it can still carry a heavy tune pretty well.
